Editorial Reviews:

America's worst nightmare has come true. Having neglected the threat of anti-establishment militias, the U.S. government is in danger of losing control. Middle America has violently risen up, coming to a standstill at Manhattan or, as the world now knows it, the DMZ. Matty Roth, a naïve, aspiring photojournalist lands a dream gig following a veteran war journalist into the heart of the DMZ. Things soon go horribly wrong, and Matty finds himself lost and alone in a world he's only seen on television.

In this volume, Roth reluctantly lands an interview for Liberty News with an enlisted U.S. solider who's found guilty of a massacre within the DMZ. What follows is a look at how the DMZ came to be, from the perspective of a kid who came from the Midwest and walked right into a nightmare.

Summary: I agree with Benjamin...
Comment: The ending was predictable ("forced" and "cheap") and the writers "failed" for the first time. The first three volumes in the series were very impressive because each one pushed the boundaries without falling into the all too common bash the Man genre. Volume 4 felt less thoughtful than previous efforts and like stated before, predictable. The series has set such high standards that it was bound to miss the mark sooner or later.

Summary: 2nd best, but the gap is huge
Comment: The main chunk of this volume is alright. Is centers more on specific people's recollection on one bloody incident, which reflects Vol. 1's main appeal. Unfortunately, it all ends with a Deus Ex Machina of the military type, out of our protagonist's hands. This plot device might be attractive to some, but for those that want an ending that doesn't seem forced or cheap, this is not for you.

the real gem is the final issue in the volume; a solitary tale that stand up higher and more solid than the rest of the issue. It works really well with the addition of a new artist to breath life into these fastly-staleing charaters and story.

Borrow from a friend; do not buy.

Summary: Another great volume
Comment: The continuing story of Matty Roth and others in in the DMZ in another great volume covering some the earlier events in the DMZ.

Summary: DMZ
Comment: This has fasr become one of my favorite comic series. It's right up there with Y The Last Man and Fables. This volume in particular brings the realities of war to a harsh and bitter light. It will make you question where you stand on war and politics and justice.

Summary: Excellent comic series, excellent installment
Comment: I can't really say that this book is getting better and better, because Volume 2 (Body of a Journalist) was probably better... but man, this is good stuff! It's a fast read, extremely relevant, fairly stand-alone, and one of the few books I'm recommending whole-heartedly lately.
